Services

Our DPW is responsible for snow removal on City streets during winter months. Please remember that driveway snow is not to be plowed into the road. Meter reading devices, fire hydrants and sidewalks should all be kept clear of snow. Our DPW also takes care of repairing water main breaks, maintaining main line sewers, water meter reads and repairs, maintaining the City cemetery and many other duties associated with the maintenance of the City.

Please call City Hall to report water main breaks, request water/sewer services, etc. Garbage/Recycling waste is handled by Waste Management. Pick up is every Wednesday (please consult our City calendar for Waste Management holiday pick up scheduling). Please report any problems with waste collection to the City Hall office.

Utilities

The City offers full service water and sewer utilities to our residents. If you have any comments, questions or concerns regarding water and sewer billing, usage, metering or infrastructure, please contact City Hall.

The City does offer a program for homeowners renting their property. As part of the program, the renter must submit a deposit (Contact City Offices for deposit amount), a copy of their lease and the renter and owner must fill out a Water Affidavit. This program protects the homeowner from a lien on their property due to unpaid water/sewer bills by renters. The deposit is applied to the final bill when the renter moves out. Please contact City Hall for more information.

Water meters are read monthly around the 25th of every month with the bill being sent to residents around the 10th of the following month.

Please make sure that water meters have a clear area around them in case of repairs.

STOP THE LEAKS: Did you know…… a running toilet can use up to 2 gallons of water per minute…. That’s up to 7,000 gallons a month!

Ways to check for leaks:

  • In the toilet: put a dark food color in the tank—don’t flush—if the color leaks down into the bowl—you have a leaky toilet.
  • Other household leaks: Make sure no water is on in the house and then look at your water meter. If the meter is advancing, you have a leak.

Water Shut Off Notice

Water/Sewer billings are mailed around the 10th of every month with a due date of the 25th. Immediately after the due date for the water/sewer bill, any account that is 30 days past due will receive a “Past Due Notice”. If payment is not made to pay off the balance, your water will be shut off. Shut offs will begin the day after the due date on the “Past Due Notice”. In the event of a non payment, there will be a $40.00 non payment fee added. Water will not be restored after 4:30 P.M. on Thursday.
